In early 2014, Plain-O Helpers, a Christian-Based handyman ministry working out of their host United Methodist Church, called the pastors of two United Methodist Churches in Frisco, Texas, saying they were getting many calls that they could no longer handle, from seniors needing minor handyman services in Frisco. These two pastors pulled together a few volunteers to look into starting up a handyman ministry in Frisco. With mentoring from Plain-O Helpers, the Frisco Team developed a Ministry called Frisco Helpers and went live in November of 2014.

Like Plain-O Helpers, Frisco Helpers provides minor handyman services to the seniors (55+) and special needs residents of the Frisco Independent School District. A Key Focus is on home safety issues, e.g., bathroom safety bars, toilet safety seats, bed safety frames, small wheelchair ramps, inside wooden rails and outside metal rails, etc. Frisco Helpers also provides basic home repairs like dripping faucets and toilets, changing light bulbs, replacing batteries in home smoke and CO detectors. A full list of repairs is mentioned in the What We Do page of this website.

Frisco Helpers does not charge for its services. Clients will provide donations to cover the cost of materials. Some will donate a little more to support those without resources. Thanks to these generous loving neighbors, we never say no to a request. Any money left over at the end of a year is donated to senior-supporting not-for-profit organizations like Meals-on-Wheels, Frisco Family Services Food Pantry, etc.

Our Volunteers, staffed by our host churches and local area churches, meet once a week on Thursday mornings to review projects and service our clients. All volunteers are background checked and observe medical protocols when on the job.

If you want to be a part of this ministry, please call our Frisco Helpers contact number 214-973-1490. We’d be happy to have you!
